In the MBBR systems, thanks to the surface area of the large number of biofilm carriers placed in the biological reactor, higher biological treatment efficiencies can be obtained in much smaller volumes. Thanks to biofilm carriers, the system operates in a stable manner without being affected by deviations (pH, temperature, toxic shock, organic load) during operation.

In populated cities, many domestic and industrial wastewater treatment plants cannot increase capacity due to the high cost of new productions (concrete ponds, mechanical equipment, etc.) or lack of sufficient space.
